Meghan Markle and Prince Harry find themselves left out in cold as Royals make major focus shift
King Charles and Queen Camilla have convened this summer’s ‘Balmoral summit’ to discuss the future of the Royal Family and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex
King Charles and Queen Camilla have set the stage for this summer’s pivotal “Balmoral summit” to carve out the Royal Family’s path forward. Earlier in the month, it was reported that a key agenda item at the upcoming summit will be Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ongoing role within the monarchy.
Now, insiders have indicated that the Firm intends to pivot its attention towards the younger royals as it plans for the decade ahead, leading up to 2030. “The strategy now is to move away from focusing on what the Sussexes are doing and place an emphasis on the next generation of royals,” one source divulged.
Recent years have seen a perpetual tit-for-tat, as the Sussexes make their own life abroad after stepping back as working royals. The insider affirmed: “There is very much a feeling of not dwelling on the past but moving forward with the assets they’ve got which are the younger members of the Royal Family.”

Members of the Royal Family are said to be meeting in Balmoral to discuss the Firm’s future
The Express reports King Charles is reportedly keenly aware of the importance of the younger royals for the monarchy’s future, with a source stating: “King Charles is very aware that the younger generation is the future of the monarchy and his focus is to ensure that its legacy remains once he has gone – and that can be secured in the Wales era.”
While Prince William, Princess Kate, Princess Anne, the Tindalls, Edinburghs, and even the Yorks are gathered at the Scottish estate for discussions, they are not considered “the future of the monarchy”. The insider suggests that although the direct line of succession is a priority, there will be informal roles for Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsor, James Wessex, and even the children of Mike and Zara Tindall as well as Peter Phillips’ daughters.
Prince George is the future King of Great Britain
“The future of the Royal Family doesn’t just hinge on the Wales family,” the source explained. “But also on other members of the Royal Family that hold a visible profile in this country and around the world. It’s all about building a brand and the family recognises that.”
Sources indicate that the Balmoral summit may discuss not only Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s titles but could also contemplate their removal from the order of succession.

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their senior Royal roles in January 2020, they aimed to earn their keep, citing a desire to “work to become financially independent”. But after setting up their new life across the pond, they let loose in a series of media interviews on their life in the Royal Family, sparking a stream of controversies back at home.
Not only did the couple spill the tea with Oprah Winfrey, but there was also a Netflix documentary and Harry’s explosive memoir ‘Spare’ where he did not hold back about his family.
