Princess Kate could appear at friends’ Kenya wedding – in same spot William proposed

Princess Kate could appear at friends’ Kenya wedding – in same spot William proposed
Princess Kate and Prince William got engaged in a particularly romantic spot in Kenya back in 2010.

Princess Kate could soon be invited to the nuptials of two close friends in a place that is especially meaningful to her and Prince William.

Back in 2010 William proposed to his then-girlfriend of several years at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in the foothills of Mount Kenya, with the news going public in November that year.

Joss Craig, 29, whose father William runs the 55,000-acre conservancy, has got engaged to Miranda Simpson, the sanctuary’s horse-riding manager.

A friend told the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden: “Wouldn’t it be lovely if Catherine could attend the wedding?”

In 2008 William attended the wedding of Batian Craig, Joss’s cousin, even though it was on the same day as the wedding of his own cousin, Peter Phillips.

Kenya has long been a place in the Prince’s heart, as before he even met Kate he spent part of his gap year in the East African country.

The Waleses took part in an official engagement interview after news of their upcoming nuptials broke, with William poking fun at their respective funny sides.

He told interviewer Tom Bradby: “She’s got a really naughty sense of humour which really helps me because I’ve got a really dirty sense of humour so it was good fun, we had a really good laugh, and then things happened.”

At the end of 2010 Kate was just 28, and her lack of experience in the public eye was made clear by her apparent nerves and her lack of confidence when it came to speaking on camera.

Royal commentator Ashley Pearson said on the Amazon Prime documentary Kate Middleton: Working Class to Windsor: “So with all the attention on her, and she is quite shy – it just complicates things and makes it very difficult.

“The first time we really got to hear her voice was in the interview when William and Kate announced their engagement, when she wore that much famous and much copied Issa dress.

“William a couple of times kind of answered the questions for her that she was asked, or corrected her, and was obviously very protective of her.

One body language expert also compared Kate’s engagement interview with that of Meghan Markle, seven years later in November 2017.

Due to being older and more experienced in handling the media thanks to her career as an actress, Meghan seemed more confident and able to control the discussion more.

Next month William and Kate will celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary, with Harry and Meghan walking up the aisle in May 2018.
