Princess Kate’s cancer video note has been explained by a major photo agency amid the current controversy.
Getty Images, one of the world’s major photo agencies, added a disclaimer to Kate’s video message where she announced her cancer diagnosis.
Getty has since explained this editor’s note amid a wave of online conspiracy theories.
The note read: “This Handout clip was provided by a third-party organisation and may not adhere to Getty Images’ editorial policy.”

However, the photo agency has now explained that this is standard practice.
Getty added that this was a standard disclaimer for any footage given to them by a third party, according to The Independent.
Some X posts about the video have since been updated with community notes from readers adding context.
One of these posts includes a message that reads: “This is a standard disclaimer that Getty Images uses when distributing video provided by a third party.”
Kate shared her cancer diagnosis with the world via video
The Palace said that BBC Studios recorded Kate’s cancer announcement on March 20.
A spokesperson from the news corporation said: “BBC Studios filmed a message from the Princess of Wales at Windsor this week.
“We would like to wish Her Royal Highness a speedy recovery.”
During Kate’s message, she stressed her need for privacy during her convalescence.

She said: “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.
“But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.
“As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirit.

“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”

“My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.”
