‘If she feels up to it’: Princess Catherine planning surprise appearance at Wimbledon after Trooping the Colour
A palace insider has revealed Princess Catherine is prepping to make another public royal engagement following her surprise appearance at Trooping the Colour.
Concern over Prince William’s plans for future of the Royal Family
Princess Catherine is rumoured to be planning another major royal engagement within days following her highly publicised appearance at Trooping the Colour.
Kate, 42, delighted royal watchers after appearing on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the Royal Family during the King’s birthday celebrations earlier this month.
In a statement, palace staffers clarified the one-off appearance was not a sign of Kate’s full return to public life amid her ongoing cancer treatment.
Nevertheless, royal expert Emily Andrews has speculated that Kate may consider attending the Wimbledon tennis grand slam, which kicks off on Monday.
“(Kate’s) treatment is ongoing, and will be for the next few months, but I understand she would like to visit the Wimbledon tennis tournament – she is a patron – if she feels up to it,” she told Grazia magazine on Wednesday.
Kate has served as patron of All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club since 2016 and typically hands over trophies to the men’s and women’s singles champions.
The Princess of Wales is also a regular fixture in the royal box on Centre Court and often invites her mother Carole Middleton and sister Pippa to join her in the exclusive seating area.
The tennis fanatic even made a short video alongside tennis legend and friend Roger Federer to celebrate the work of the Wimbledon ball boys and girls.
The insight comes after Kate skipped Royal Ascot entirely last week despite hopes the Princess of Wales might show up at the iconic horse race meeting.
While Kate was MIA at Ascot, the Princess’s parents Michael and Carole Middleton stepped out at the event in their first public appearance since their elder daughter’s cancer diagnosis.
The Princess of Wales has been out of public view in recent months while undergoing chemotherapy for cancer and recently revealed she has “good days” and “bad days” with her treatment.
“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” she said in a statement earlier this month.
“On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”
