Kate Middleton’s ‘household rule’ is so strict George, Charlotte and Louis can’t break it
While at home, the Princess of Wales and her husband Prince William reportedly have one firm household rule that their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis must stick to
Kate Middleton and her family have had a rocky start to 2024 with her treatment following a cancer diagnosis keeping her out of the limelight as she takes much-needed time to recover.
The Princess of Wales has thrilled royal fans with two brave public appearances, the first at Trooping The Colour last month and then again at the Wimbledon men’s final earlier this month.
Kate has also kept supporters updated with her progress with poignant messages on her social media channels as she navigates not only her diagnosis but also its impact on her three children.
With Kate and Prince William’s children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all preparing to break up from school for the summer, they will get to enjoy some family time with their royal parents. Although they do have the help of a nanny, the royal couple is still very hands-on with their children and are said to love taking part in activities such as bike riding and baking. But it’s not all fun and games for George, Charlotte and Louis as William and Kate reportedly lay down some household rules at their home Adelaide Cottage in Windsor – including one that must be adhered to at all times.

And according to a source, this rule is one they are strict on following – there is to be no shouting in the house. The insider told the Sun: “Shouting is absolutely ‘off limits’ for the children and any hint of shouting at each other is dealt with by removal.” But rather than be sent off to their bedrooms or to the naughty step when they act up, the royal couple have a different technique – the sofa chat. The source added: “The naughty child is taken away from the scene of the row or disruption and talked to calmly by either Kate or William. Things are explained and consequences outlined and they never shout at them.”
Yesterday, Prince George beamed in a brand new picture that’s been released on social media to mark his 11th birthday. The second-in-line to the throne is celebrating his special day today and looks incredibly grown up and dapper in the new snap, donning a smart suit with an open neck shirt as he grins at the camera. The black and white picture, taken by his mum the Princess of Wales earlier this month in Windsor, is accompanied with a sweet message that reads: “Wishing Prince George a very happy 11th birthday today!”

Royal expert Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, told the Mirror: “Kate’s illness this year has obviously been distressing for George but as the eldest family member he is expected to set an example to his confident younger sister, Charlotte and little brother Louis and he has been especially protective.”
The youngster’s birthday comes just days after he joined his dad William to support England in their Euro 2024 final against Spain, his latest outing in a spree of more recent public appearances. He joined William at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany, as the side failed to end a 58-year wait for a major men’s trophy.
At the end of June, George met Taylor Swift at her concert at Wembley Stadium. The prince and his sister, Charlotte, nine, joined William in smiling for a backstage selfie with the US singer to celebrate their father’s 42nd birthday. Swift’s boyfriend, American footballer Travis Kelce, said the royal children were “an absolute delight”. And in his latest birthday snap, George can be seen wearing a Taylor Swift-inspired friendship bracelet on his left wrist, which is similar to ones spotted being worn by Charlotte as well as their grandad, the King. Kensington Palace declined to reveal who gave the prince the bracelet.
