As Prince Harry gears up for a return trip to the UK, it seems his wife Meghan Markle may not be accompanying him. An insider has suggested that the Duchess of Sussex is apprehensive about potential public heckling upon her return.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that 39-year-old Harry plans to spend an extended period in the UK this summer. The aim is to mend the strained ties with his family, which have been increasingly tense in recent times.

Harry, a proud father of two, officially left his Royal duties behind in 2020 and relocated to the US with his young family. He was reportedly taken aback by the cancer diagnoses of both his father King Charles and sister-in-law Princess Kate, which were made public at the beginning of the year.

Despite Harry’s hopes for a joyful family reunion, it appears less likely that Meghan will join him on this lengthy visit. The former actress, juggling multiple projects including the recent launch of her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard, reportedly has “too much on her plate”.

However, one magazine suggests that her business commitments aren’t the only reason for her reluctance to cross the Atlantic. They propose that she is wary of being publicly heckled, similar to the incident at the Platinum Jubilee in 2022, reports the Express. If the reports are accurate, Prince Harry may find himself separated from Meghan for an extended period as he endeavours to mend his strained relationship with the Royal family.

A source told Closer that the King’s youngest son is “convinced” that ‘he’ll have a better chance of reconnecting with his family’ if he remains in the UK for an extended period of time, even if this does mean spending time apart from the woman he loves.

An insider shared: “Harry is very anxious to go home and see his dad, catch up with his friends for his birthday in September and also pay a visit to his aunt, Princess Anne. But that situation hasn’t changed for Meghan. She’s respectful that Harry has to go back to his home for practical and emotional reasons, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to go with him.”

The likelihood of the Prince’s trip proceeding hinges on the outcome of his appeal to the Home Office and the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC). Earlier this year, Prince Harry challenged RAVEC’s decision to revoke his security detail after he resigned from active Royal duties four years ago.
