Kate Middleton issues back to work update with poignant message
The Princess of Wales has been working behind the scenes to support a project close to her heart, with the launch of a new community to help babies and children
The Princess of Wales has marked a major milestone in one of her meaningful work projects with the launch of a new venture.
Despite stepping back from royal engagements following her cancer diagnosis, Kate has been working behind the scenes with her early years initiative to improve the lives of infants with The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.
Issuing a new update on their progress, Kate announced the Baby Bank Alliance, which ensures babies and children have the essentials they need.
Celebrating the news of the ‘baby banks’ set up across the country, she shared an Instagram post published by the foundation on the Stories of the Prince and Princess of Wales official account. Kate, 42, wrote: “The @babybankalliance is a community of over 300 baby banks supporting families, babies and children in the UK with access to the supplies and clothing they need to thrive.
Sharing a montage of photos of the princess, The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood account posted: “Over the past few years, The Princess of Wales has visited several baby banks to highlight their crucial work in supporting families with babies and young children. Organisations like baby banks play a vital role in helping to give parents and carers the capacity to provide the nurturing care which is so important to babies and young children.
“Today we’re delighted to see the launch of The Baby Bank Alliance, a community of over 300 baby banks supporting families, babies and children in the UK with access to the supplies and clothing that they need to thrive. Our relationships, experiences, and surroundings in our earliest years lay the foundations that shape the rest of our lives. Supporting parents and carers, who are doing their best to provide for their families in incredibly challenging circumstances, is essential and can have a life-changing impact.”
Princess Kate has visited several baby banks in recent years and even helped to sort donations at several of them
Earlier this year in March following her abdominal surgery, it was said that the mum-of-three had been working from home in the wake of a new report from the Centre, which funded a trial of a baby observation tool. The device is set to be used by health visitors to improve how they spot signs of social and emotional development in young children.
Kensington Palace confirmed at the time that Princess Kate had been kept up to date with her campaign and the “overwhelmingly positive” results of a study she inspired. A spokesman for Kensington Palace is reported to have said: “The Princess has been kept updated throughout the process.”
Kate has regularly spoken of the importance of the first five years of life, as well as her hopes for prioritising the social and emotional development of all children. The Centre for Early Childhood was established in 2021 and is part of The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales.
