A royal commentator has suggested that “Prince Harry’s face said it all” when Meghan Markle performed an exaggerated curtsy when describing her first meeting with the late Elizabeth II.
The Duchess of Sussex discussed the “surreal” encounter during the filming of her and the Duke’s Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, which was released on the platform last year.
She said: “It’s surreal. It wasn’t like some big moment of like, ‘Now you’re going to meet my grandmother,” she recalled.
“I didn’t know I was going to meet her until moments before.”
“And I remember we were in the car and we were driving up and he’s like ‘You know how to curtsy right?’ And I just thought it was a joke.”

As she spoke of the meeting, Meghan went on to perform an over-the-top bow while seated on the sofa with Prince Harry watching. She laughingly added: “Pleasure to meet you, your Majesty.”
Royal expert Kinsey Schofield suggested that the Duchess had been “playing dumb” during the encounter and argued that it was evident Harry did not appreciate his wife’s portrayal of the moment.
Ms Schofield told Express.co.uk: “Prince Harry’s face says it all.”
The To Di For Daily founder was not the only one to notice the Duke’s discomfort as body language expert Jesus Enrique Rosas analysed his reaction on his YouTube Channel.
Mr Rosas said: “The first part of Harry’s reaction tells me that he knew what was coming. He is serious even if Meghan is speaking quickly, joyfully but there’s no connection, no empathy in him.
“He is serious and maybe even angry, notice what happens with his throat, he is swallowing at that moment.”
The body language guru pointed out Prince Harry’s apparent “contempt” for Meghan’s actions, observing the prince’s flushed face as she exaggerated her bow.
He continued: “He is looking at Meghan and he displays contempt. A split second after that, he looks away and presses his jaw.
“You can see the patches of red on his face are much redder on the cheeks, the bridge of the nose, the temples it could be that he feels ashamed or angry.”
Mr Rosas then clarified his interpretation of Prince Harry’s emotions: “I’m going to tell you why this is covert anger and not [Harry being] ashamed.
“If he was ashamed, he would have smiled a bit more, or [had] a nervous laughter.
“But he knew what was coming and he couldn’t stand it – that he had that face at the beginning and had that subtle swallow right before Meghan did the curtsy.”
