Prince Harry and Meghan Markle accused of ‘rewriting history’ after ‘contradiction’

A royal commentator has opened up about a recent controversy surrounding a 2018 interview with the royal couple that Megan said was akin to an ‘orchestrated reality show’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been attempting to “rewrite history” by saying an old engagement interview was “orchestrated”, a royal commentator has claimed.

Mishal Husain, 51, this week addressed claims by Meghan Markle that her 2018 engagement interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was akin to an ‘orchestrated reality show’ .

Prince Harry claims he and Meghan Markle ‘felt forced’ to leave UK in ...

The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden opened up about the controversy on yesterday’s episode of the Palace Confidential podcast, saying Meghan was now claiming that what occurred in the interview is “not what happened”.

Richard said: “I think Meghan really is trying to rewrite history, you know. There’s one version that was out there at the time and she’s trying to say, ‘No; that’s not what happened at all’.

“But you know, now this is Mishal Husain saying, ‘Well, wait a minute, you know. Don’t just try to rewrite history like that’.”

Meghan would’ve preferred Oprah Winfrey for the interview, according to sources
The journalist said he’d referred back to the interview and “some of their answers” look a “bit disingenuous” now. He claimed that the couple had “literally changed things that they’ve said”.

In one example, he discussed how Harry and Meghan had talked about meeting on a “blind date” in the Mishal Husain interview. However in the couple’s 2022 Netflix show, they said they met “via Instagram”.

Richard also spoke about the “body language” in the interview, saying it was “such an interesting contrast” compared to previous royal interviews, as Meghan was “more confident” and “leaning across” Harry.

Meghan was reported to say that Mishal was “not empathetic enough and not warm enough” to complete the interview, and she would have preferred Oprah Winfrey, according to sources.

“When the Duchess of Sussex said that my engagement interview with her and Harry was an ‘orchestrated reality show’ I didn’t know what to make of it,” Mishal wrote in the August issue of Saga magazine.

“They seemed to have thought through what their new lives would be like and what marriage would mean for her life in particular. There was nothing that pointed to what would happen. It was two people who were full of joy in each other and life.”
