Extent of Prince Harry and William’s rift laid bare as Kate’s cancer creates ‘perspective’
A royal commentator claimed the way Prince Harry and Meghan Markle learned of Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis shows just how deep the rift between the two camps is.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle learning of the Princess of Wales’s cancer diagnosis on the news like the rest of the world shows how deep the rift between them and the royals is, a royal commentator has claimed.
Last Friday, Princess Kate appeared in a video message as she bravely announced to the world that she has been diagnosed with a type of cancer and is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy for it.
Shortly after, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a brief statement saying: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
But it is understood the couple also reached out to the Prince and Princess of Wales in private.
The two couples have been estranged ever since Harry and Meghan quit the Royal Family and moved to the US in 2020 and subsequently made a series of explosive claims about them and the rest of the royals.

Now a royal commentator claimed the latest updates are a sign of just how bad things are between the two feuding brothers.
Talk TV’s royal editor Sarah Hewson commented on why Harry and Meghan weren’t informed in advance of Kate’s illness: “They [William and Kate] didn’t trust Harry and Meghan with that information because they didn’t know whether this could get out there somehow and I think that gives us a sign of just how deep that rift is.”
“Harry will reflect on this, he loves Kate, he’s talked about her in the past as the ‘sister he’s never had and always wanted’, there was a real bond between them,
“But he’s said some awful things on Netflix and in spare, some things that William is very angry about, very protective of his wife about. and I think some of those may have put some perspective for them.”

The royal editor added that it is highly unlikely there will be any moves from the Waleses in mending the ongoing rift soon as they want to “minimise any kind of stress”.
She explained: “I think for the Waleses, they want to minimise any kind of stress, they don’t want to think about anything else apart from being the five of them.
“They’re going to be spending quality time together over Easter with their children and I don’t think they want any noises from elsewhere.”
