Get Kate Middleton’s classic summer look with Boden’s £28 striped Breton top

The Princess of Wales is known to be a big fan of a classic Breton striped top over the years, and Boden’s £28 version is the perfect pick for summer’s ever-changing weather

When it comes to her wardrobe, Kate Middleton knows a thing or two about classics. The Princess of Wales has been spotted in plenty of timeless pieces over the years, and one of her go-tos time and time again is a Breton striped top.

One of her favourite brands to shop from for Breton tops is ME + EM, with Kate spotted wearing at least three different versions from the brand over the years. Although many of ME + EM’s Breton tops are now sold out, you can still pick up this Boxy Breton, £42.50 here (was £85).

However, one of Kate’s more recognisable versions, a cobalt top with white stripes, has long since sold out after she wore it at Beaufort Polo Club on June 14 2015. Thankfully though we’ve spotted an almost identical one from Boden with the Ella Long Sleeve Breton, £28 here, which is a great affordable alternative.

The Boden top is made from 100% cotton which makes it light and breathable which is perfect for helping keep cool in the warmer weather, and has long sleeves that are perfect for transitional dressing, so you can wear it all year round. It also has a classic slash neckline similar to Kate’s ME + EM version which gives it a flattering finish.

Its relaxed, boxy fit also helps give it a more relaxed, laid-back look, which combined with the timeless colour palette means it can be worn with anything. Kate usually teaming hers with a pair of slim fit jeans– her favourite pair is the & Other Stories Slim Jeans, £47 here (was £75) – and loafers, or some tapered high waisted trousers.

However you could just as easily team yours with a pair of high waisted denim shorts and trainers while running errands, or pair it with some linen palazzo pants and sandals for a sunny day of sightseeing.
