Kate Middleton accidentally revealed William’s one bad habit that drives her insane
The Princess of Wales has told about eating while on the sofa is a something which ‘drives her insane’. She gave the detail in a ‘slip-up’ which told a lot about the family’s eating habits
Princess Kate once accidentally revealed a bad habit of Prince William’s that drives her bonkers – and it’s one we can all relate to.
The Princess of Wales’ frustration left cleaners who look after the Royal household in no doubt what was her biggest annoyance was of her husband.
It happened when the pair were visiting an RAF base in Cyprus in 2018. While opening up a new recreation facility, Prince William warned RAF members about keeping food away from the furniture. He said: “Keep the pizza off the sofas”. Kate then responded “You’re a nightmare with that.”
But the Daily Record reports the mum-of-three’s fight to keep their furniture crumb free is an ongoing one as the couple are known to enjoy regular takeaways. And During an interview with BBC Radio 1 in 2017, the Princess of Wales was asked if the family ever eat takeaways and what was her top choice.
She replied: “Absolutely, and curry, definitely. It doesn’t usually get ordered to the palace, we tend to go and pick it up,” before jokingly saying “not ourselves!” While Kate enjoys her food spicy, William admitted he is more partial to a milder dish. He told footballer Peter Crouch on his podcast in 2020 he is “not a vindaloo man put it that way” and prefers a chicken tikka masala.
While speaking on Radio 1, Prince William also said he enjoys Nando’s after being introduced to the restaurant by his police protection officer. Despite having access to some of the world’s finest cuisines at their fingertips, takeaways are a popular treat within the Royal Family with the late Queen also enjoying the odd one.
But the late Queen’s favourite dish was created much closer to home as she would apparently send her footman to pick up a fish supper for her while she was in Scotland. An insider previously confirmed to Fabulous: “She very occasionally treated herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral. A footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.”
She was also said to have surprisingly enjoyed kebab in the past as royal correspondent Jayne Seymour revealed that Krazy Kebabs takeaway in Swaffham got a delivery order to Sandringham House. The delivery driver told Jayne: “I assumed the food was for a servant. But when I got to the entrance a butler took it and said it was for the Queen. I hope she enjoyed it – we are known for the best kebabs in Norfolk.”
But King Charles is definitely more likely to sway towards Italian cuisine. In November 2019, during a trip to Scotland, he was given a pizza from a member of the public as he greeted crowds in St Boswells. Chef Erminio Di meo told the Press Association: “I wanted to give him the pizza as he is such a big part of this country. I said, ‘it’s a margherita’. I believe he said, ‘it’s my favourite’.”
