Prince William’s favourite holiday destination is a subtropical island he owns with Kate Middleton
Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales, have a favourite holiday spot that’s a subtropical paradise they actually own.
The Isles of Scilly off the coast of Cornwall offer “outstandingly beautiful, uncrowded and unspoiled” landscapes and are also loved by the royal couple and their children.
They have enjoyed the serene island of Tresco staying there for family getaways in 2020 and again in 2021 with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Prince William has since taken ownership of the Isles and has been seen enjoying bike rides and mingling with the locals alongside his wife and kids.
The isles are a coveted retreat for royals and celebrities because of their stunning beauty and seclusion with just 5,000 tourist beds available making them an ideal placefor some peaceful downtime.
Their small population of just 2,100 permanent residents, the largest island, St Mary’s, is home to 1,600 of them. Reaching the islands requires a boat or plane, and hopping between them typically involves a quaint ferry ride.

Tresco, the archipelago’s second-largest island, is known for its breathtaking subtropical botanical gardens, a legacy of Augustus Smith from the 19th century, reports the Express. The royal family’s top holiday spots have been revealed by Iglu Cruise and the late Queen’s Balmoral Estate in the Highlands is number one spot.
Owned by the royals for over 170 years, Balmoral is nestled within 50,000 acres of stunning Scottish scenery. The public has the chance to explore the estate from April to August when the royals aren’t there, and can even book a stay in nearby cottages or guesthouses.
Kerasia in Corfu clinched the second place as a Royal favourite, particularly beloved by King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla. Charles also enjoys trekking through Romania and has a property in Transylvania, which he plans to visit next month.
The royals are no strangers to the slopes either, with Kate and William having whisked their kids off to Courchevel in the French Alps twice, once in 2016 and again in 2022.

A royal spokesperson remarked at the time: “This was their first holiday as a family of four and the first time either of the children had played in the snow. It was very special and fun short holiday for the family, and they are grateful that John Stillwell [The PA photographer] was able to capture the moment so well. The Duke and Duchess hope people enjoy the photos.”
In addition to Balmoral William and Kate have also used the late Queen’s cottage as a retreat since the days when they were both students at the University of St Andrews. It is even said they would enjoy romantic weekends away together at the private bolthole and that they spent some of the happiest days of their lives there.

Speaking in 2019, a royal source told Vanity Fair that the couple stayed at the home with their three children. “The Queen has a lot of guests coming and to ease the pressure the [Waleses] are likely to stay at the cottage,” they said.
