Princess Kate fans unhappy at demand by Prince Harry’s Army friend: ‘Leave her alone!’
Prince Harry’s army friend JJ Chalmers has urged the Princess of Wales to open up about her cancer battle – much to the dislike of Kate’s fans.
Fans of the Princess of Wales have grown unhappy after presenter JJ Chalmers, an army friend of Prince Harry, stated that the royal should open up about her cancer battle.
In an emotional address last month, Princess Kate revealed that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of cancer.
The royal, 42, had undergone planned abdominal surgery back in January, but was assured at the time that it was non-cancerous. However, post-operative tests later found cancer had been present.
Princess Kate then urged the public for “some time, space and privacy”, with fans now unimpressed by Prince Harry’s friend’s demand.
Speaking to the MailOnline’s Richard Eden, Mr Chalmers said: “I was a similar age to [Prince] George when my mum was diagnosed with cancer for the first time, so I know how it feels as a kid.”
Speaking of his mum’s and his aunt’s diagnoses, he added: “Thankfully, my mum made it, but my auntie didn’t.”
Discussing Princess Kate, he then urged her to use her “influence” and raise awareness about cancer. Suggesting that her emotional video last month has a “silver lining”, he added: “She and her family will be able to make the world a slightly better place.”
After reading Mr Eden’s article, fans of Princess Kate took to X to express their opinions on Mr Chalmers’ comments.
One fan wrote: “Who is he to demand anything from Catherine?!? She is a free woman and she will do it when and if she wants. She doesn’t need anyone’s opinion about it!

“That guy should leave her alone and give advice to his beloved friend and his wife [Harry and Meghan] on how to move on with their lives without trying to copy the working royals, stop lying and stop being such a hypocritical couple all the time.”
Another commented: “Wait a second: Harry’s friend, a man, is telling a woman what to do and what to say? What year is this? 1824? All while she is recovering from a major surgery and having chemo?”
A third wrote: “Anybody urging Catherine to do anything should mind their own business!”
Stating that he has “no right” to comment, another fan wrote: “JJ Chalmers has no right whatsoever to urge the Princess to speak regarding any subject. MYOB [mind your own business].”

Mr Chalmers’ comments come just days before Harry is set to fly to the UK to attend a special ceremony which will mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
The ceremony will take place at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8 and will mark a decade of “changing lives and saving lives”.
Meghan Markle is not set to join her husband in the UK, and will instead join him on a visit to Nigeria two days later.
