Queen Camilla Reportedly Didn’t Think Kate Middleton Was Worthy of Marrying Prince William
Kate Middleton has been part of the royal family for more than a decade, but she’s been close with The Firm for much longer than that.
After all, she and Prince William have been dating since university. But not everyone was a fan of Kate from the start — including King Charles’ wife, Queen Camilla.
According to one royal expert, Camilla didn’t think Kate was cut out to be royal in the beginning, and was even a bit of a “snob” about the whole thing.

Reportedly, Camilla didn’t think Kate was ‘of their class.’
Charles and Camilla weren’t married yet when Will and Kate first started dating, but as royal expert and author Christopher Andersen told Us Weekly, that didn’t stop her from sharing her opinion about Kate being a commoner.
“Camilla’s a believer in aristocracy [and] kind of a snob,” the author said.
This may have led to a bit of tension between Will and Camilla.
And understandably so — Will did end up marrying Kate anyway, so he must not have cared about what Camilla thought about his choice of a partner.
Now, the royal expert says the Prince of Wales “tolerates” his stepmother … and apparently, Camilla has even “always been a little afraid of William.” Yikes!
William and Camilla have had a difficult relationship since the beginning.
Given that he and Harry were aware of the affair between Charles and Camilla that happened while their mother, Princess Diana, was still alive and married to their father, that’s not surprising, but it seems like things truly did get off on an awkward foot for them.
The author said that after Camilla and Will met for the first time, “she said she needed a gin and tonic.”

Will, Kate, and Camilla have grown closer since Meghan and Harry left the UK.
“It brought them closer. William and Kate don’t want any extra drama or tension in the family — they have enough of that with Meghan and Harry,” a source close to the royals told Us Weekly.
And even though Camilla may not have been Kate’s biggest fan in the beginning, it sounds like things warmed between them quickly. The family friend added, “She’s never been dismissive of Camilla and always treated her with kindness.”
Today, William likes Camilla because she makes King Charles happy.
“Camilla and Charles get on so well and laugh all the time,” the source said. “Whenever you see them together, they’re having fun and giggling. That’s what William likes about Camilla — she warms his father up and brings out his human side.”
While facing his battle with cancer, there’s no doubt that’s exactly the kind of person Charles needs in his corner. It’s good to hear that things are getting better in their family.
