Princess Catherine’s family has reportedly “iced out” the royal’s uncle Gary Goldsmith over his controversial decision to appear on the reality series Celebrity Big Brother.
Kate’s parents Michael and Carole, as well as a her siblings Pippa and James have earned praise for their grace and discretion amid the Princess’ illness and throughout her public life.
However, the Princess of Wales’ uncle has repeatedly spoken to the press about his world-famous niece, a habit which has infuriated the Middleton family.
Goldsmith, 59, is the younger brother of Kate’s mum Carole but has caused tensions among the Middletons for cashing in on his connection to the Princess of Wales.
Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith previously slammed the Sussexes for throwing the family “under the bus”.
In March, Goldsmith appeared on Celebrity Big Brother where he publicly called for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to be stripped of their titles in retaliation for criticising Kate.
The entire Middleton family were reportedly horrified by Goldsmith’s comments on the program which sparked an ongoing rift between Gary and Carole.
On Saturday, a source claimed Goldsmith was “surprised” by his sister’s outrage and has since moved abroad until tensions ease within the Goldsmith and Middleton clans.
“It was no secret that Gary going into the Big Brother house wasn’t a particularly welcomed move,” the source told the Daily Express newspaper on Saturday.
Carole Middleton was reportedly furious with her brother after his Big Brother appearance.
“Gary was quite surprised by the reaction to his appearance on the show, especially afterwards.
“He decided that he had to get away and spend a few months in Ibiza.”
Carole, 69, is understood to be behind the decision to “ice out” Gary over the Celebrity Big Brother debacle, which also coincided with Kate’s cancer diagnosis.
“Gary is very close to Carole so it’s not something that’s going to cause any long-term damage, but there has been some distance placed between the information divulged,” a second source told the same newspaper in March.

Goldsmith was evicted on Day 5 of the competition but pulled out of a chance to return to the show’s live finale, which aired the same day Kate made her diagnosis public.
It is unclear if Kate’s uncle came to the decision alone or was heeding advice from his sister Carole.
“Following today’s news, I will not be attending tonight’s Celebrity Big Brother final,” he said in a statement.
Mr Goldsmith called for Meghan to lose her title as punishment for slamming Kate.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my fellow Housemates and to everyone involved in the making of this brilliant show. I hope you all enjoy your special night.”
The update marks the latest twist in Goldsmith’s tumultuous public life since first stepping into the spotlight after his niece married Prince William.
Prior to the royal wedding, Goldsmith was caught up in a tabloid sting operation in which he was caught dealing cocaine to an undercover reporter.
The IT entrepreneur also has a previous conviction for domestic violence against his fourth wife.
